Month end is easy when every week is a little tidy. A short routine for invoices, payments, bank lines and bills.

Month end feels heavy because a month of small jobs piled up. Do the small jobs weekly and close becomes a checklist.
1. Chase what is overdue
Open your list of unpaid invoices and sort by due date. Send a friendly reminder for anything late. A reminder rule in Books can do the first nudge for you.
2. Record what came in
Match payments to the invoices they settle. Where a payment link was used, the match is already done.
3. Match the bank
Go through the new bank lines. Accept the suggestions that are obviously right, and categorise the rest while you still remember what they were.
4. Enter bills and expenses
Add supplier bills and approve expense claims from your team. Anything you leave for next month is a puzzle you will solve with less memory.
5. Glance at the numbers
Look at cash, what you are owed and what you owe. If something looks odd, a week is a short time to trace it.
Thirty minutes, once a week, beats a long weekend once a month.
