Import records from a file
Load contacts, accounts, deals and more from a CSV or Excel file, and undo the import if needed.
Bring in records from a spreadsheet instead of typing them. Imports work for Contacts, Accounts, Pipeline records (deals), Products, Tasks, Meetings and Calls.
Before you start
- Use a CSV or Excel .xlsx file with column headings in the first row.
- Files can be up to 10 MB.
- Your profile must allow importing. If it does not, the page says so; ask an admin.
Import a file
- Open Import in the sidebar. From a list such as Contacts, you can also open More and choose Import Contacts.
- Under What are you importing?, choose the kind of record.
- For deals, pick the pipeline under Pipeline (for pipeline records).
- Choose your file, then Next.
- In Map fields, match each Column in file to a Field. CRM suggests matches and shows a Sample. Fields marked * are required. Choose Don't import for columns you do not want.
- Choose what happens when a row matches an existing record: Skip the row, Update the existing record or Create a duplicate anyway.
- Choose Import. The button shows how many rows it will load.
Type a name in Save this mapping as to reuse your column choices next time.
After the import
You land on a page showing how many rows were Added, Updated and Skipped, any rows with problems, and the records created. The Import history table on the Import page lists every import so you can open it again.
To take an import back, open it and choose Undo import. Records it created are deleted and fields it changed are put back.
Next: Convert a lead or Work your deals.
