Search your mail
Use the search box and its operators to find a message, then save the search.
The search box above the mail list searches every folder. Type your words and press Enter.
Plain words match the subject, the sender, the body and the text of attachments. Put a phrase in quotes to look for it as written.
Operators
Add an operator to narrow the search. Combine as many as you like; a message must match all of them.
- from:name: Messages from that name or address
- to:name: Messages sent to that name or address, including Cc
- subject:word: A word in the subject
- has:attachment: Messages with attachments
- is:unread: Unread messages (also is:read and is:flagged)
- in:folder: Messages in one folder, such as in:sent
- tag:name: Messages with a tag
- before:2026-01-31 and after:2026-01-01: Messages in a date range (year-month-day)
- larger:5M: Messages bigger than 5 MB (use K for kilobytes)
- filename:report: Messages with an attachment whose name contains that word
Example: from:anita has:attachment is:unread.
If a value has spaces, put it in quotes, for example subject:"project plan".
Save a search
On the results page, choose Save search, give it a name, and it appears under Saved searches in the left column. Remove it with the small x beside it.
Quick checks without typing
The Unread, Flagged and Attachments views under Views do the same job as is:unread, is:flagged and has:attachment.
