Write, reply and send
Compose a message, attach files, schedule it, and take it back if you change your mind.
Write a new message
- Choose New Mail.
- Type in To. Suggestions from your directory, contacts and groups appear as you type. Press Enter or , to add an address. Use Cc / Bcc to show those fields.
- Add a Subject and write your message. The toolbar has bold, italic, underline, lists, a quote, links and images. The Signature… menu inserts one of your signatures.
- Choose Send.
Your work is saved automatically as you type and appears in Drafts. If you close the window, it is kept there. The bin icon discards the draft. Ctrl + Enter sends.
If you have more than one address you can send from, a From menu appears.
Reply or forward
Open a message and choose Reply, Reply all or Forward. The same actions are at the bottom of the message.
Attach files
Choose Attach, or drag files onto the message. Choose WorkDrive to attach a file from your Orbitly drive. Your administrator sets the size limit and may block some file types; you will see a message if a file is refused. If you write "attached" but add nothing, Mail asks before sending.
Options
Choose Options for:
- High priority
- Ask for read receipt
- Remind me if nobody replies (after 1, 3 or 7 days)
- Save as template, see Snooze mail and reuse templates
Encrypt protects the message with PGP. Every recipient needs a public key, or the message will not send. Keys are managed in Settings > Encryption.
Send later, or take it back
- The clock button next to Send opens Schedule send. Pick Tomorrow morning, Tomorrow afternoon, Monday morning, or your own date and time. Scheduled messages wait in Outbox; choose Edit in the confirmation to change them.
- After you send, Undo appears for a short time. You set how long in Settings > Compose > Undo send window. It can be switched off.
Who gets it
Mail to addresses on the domains set up in Orbitly Mail is delivered straight into those mailboxes. Mail to any other address goes out through the outgoing mail connection your administrator has set up. In a test or demo setup there is no real connection: outside mail is accepted and logged as sent, but it does not leave the app. If outside mail does not arrive, ask your administrator. See Get started with Mail.
Contacts
People you email are added to Contacts automatically (you can turn this off in Settings > Compose). In Contacts you can search, add a New contact, Import a .vcf or .csv file, export as vCard or CSV, and select people to write to them all.
