Mailbox settings, signatures and vacation reply

Change how Mail looks and behaves, add a signature, set an automatic reply and forward your mail.

Choose Settings in the app sidebar. The sections down the left are General, Compose, Signatures, Send mail as, Vacation reply, Forwarding, Filters, Spam, Folders and tags, Sharing and delegation, Other accounts, Encryption, Mail clients (IMAP/POP) and Storage.

General

Set your Display name and Reply-to address, and choose the Reading pane (right of the list, below it, or off), List density, Conversation order and Remote images. Remote images are hidden by default to protect you from tracking; you can show them once, or always for one sender, from the banner on a message. Keyboard shortcuts can be On (the default), Gmail style, or Off; see Organise mail for the keys.

Compose

Choose the default format (rich text or plain text), font and size, and the Undo send window. Turn Add people I email to Contacts on or off.

Signatures

Create a signature and choose which of your addresses uses it by default. The default is added to every new message.

Vacation reply

  1. Open Vacation reply and turn on Send automatic replies.
  2. Set From and Until.
  3. Enter a Subject and Message. You can turn on a different reply for people outside your organisation.
  4. Choose Save.

Each sender gets the reply at most once per interval you pick. Mailing lists and automated mail never get it.

Forwarding

Enter the address in Forward to and choose Send confirmation. A link is sent there; once it is confirmed, the address shows Verified and you can turn on Forward incoming mail. Keep a copy in Orbitly Mail is on by default. Your administrator may block forwarding outside the organisation.

Spam

Add an address or a whole domain to Allowed senders or Blocked senders. Mail from an allowed sender always reaches your Inbox; mail from a blocked sender goes straight to Spam. From a message, More actions > Block sender blocks it and moves the message to Spam.

Storage

The meter at the bottom of the mail sidebar shows what you have used. Choose it to open Storage.
