Log time and submit timesheets
Record hours on projects and tasks, submit your week, and approve your team's time.
Log the hours you spend, submit them when your week is done, and a manager approves them. Submitted and approved time counts towards a project's cost.
Log time
There are three places to do it.
On a task. Open the task and, under Log time, enter Hours and choose Log for today.
On a project. Open the Time tab. Set the Date, enter Hours (quarter hours work, such as 1.25), pick a Task or leave it as No task, add a Note, and choose Log time.
On Timesheets. Open Timesheets in the sidebar. Under My week, set the Date, pick the Project, enter Hours and a note, and choose Log time.
See your week
My week shows a grid of projects by day for the week, with totals. Use Previous week and Next week to move. Time Logs below lists each entry with its status: draft, submitted, approved or rejected.
You can Remove an entry while it is a draft or has been rejected. Once it is submitted, you cannot remove it.
Submit your week
- Open Timesheets, then My week.
- Check the entries.
- Choose Submit week. The number in brackets is how many entries will be sent.
Approve time
Time is approved by a member of the project who has the Manager role, or by anyone allowed to manage all projects.
- On a project's Time tab, submitted entries have Approve and Reject buttons.
- On Timesheets, open To approve to see each person's week for a project, and choose Approve or Send back.
Someone else has to approve your own time. The only exception is a person allowed to manage all projects in the organisation; being the Manager of one project is not enough. A person whose time is sent back can change it and submit again.
Cost and budget
If a project has a Cost per hour, the Time tab shows hours logged and cost, and the budget used if one is set. It counts submitted and approved time only. See Create a project.
